Awareness Creation on traffic Safety for INSA Management and Drivers

A two days awareness creation session on traffic safety was held at the facility of Information Network Security Agency (INSA) in collaboration with Addis Ababa Police Commission. The session was instrumental in creating awareness on the prevailing traffic accidents in the city.

The sessions aims at creating awareness on measures to be taken by drivers of INSA's vehicles in mitigating the causes of the prevailing traffic accidents in the city, said Brigadier General Ahmed Hamza, the Head of Supply Management Sector of the Agency.

Awareness is needed as prevention is the best method to reduce the loss of life and property by traffic accidents, he added.

After commending INSA for facilitating the session, Assistant Inspector Asefa Mezgebu, the presenter from Addis Ababa Police Commission has provided an insight on the global experience and Ethiopia's reality regarding the traffic accidents.

The fast economic growth that the country is witnessing has a pooling factor for the increase in the number of cars on the streets of Addis Ababa which together with lack of awareness consequently contributed to the increase in the accident, added the Assistant Inspector. He also stressed that a concerted effort to bring change of behavior calls an attention from all concerned; and the government organs should have their own scheme to deal with the matter
