Information Network Security Administration (INSA) has provided a cybersecurity awareness training for senior officers of the Ethiopian Navy. The training mainly focused on strategies to prevent potential cyberattacks targeting military operations supported by digital technology, as well as ensuring the institution’s information security.
It was stated that the training aims to enhance digital knowledge essential for the defense sector in today’s modern technological era.
Speaking at the opening of the training, Commodore Jemal Tufisa, Deputy Commander of the Ethiopian Navy for Operations, noted that the training was conducted based on a prior memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. He emphasized that it reflects their commitment to collaborate in areas such as technology transfer, information sharing, and human resource development. He also stated that the training would further elevate the strategic partnership between the two institutions.
The Commodore further pointed out that modern technological systems used by the Navy may be vulnerable to cyberattacks. He explained that the training will significantly help in handling these systems with greater caution. He stressed that protecting technological infrastructure from adversary attacks is essential for successful military operations and expressed confidence that the training will enhance the defense capabilities of personnel.
Finally, he emphasized that ensuring digital sovereignty is a key priority in safeguarding national sovereignty. He also stated that such awareness-raising programs will continue to be strengthened across various military units. He reaffirmed that the Navy will continue to work closely in partnership with INSA in the future.
