It Was Stated That the Draft Proclamation Is a Crucial Tool for Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyberattacks

The draft Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Proclamation has been described as a key instrument for protecting critical infrastructure from cyberattacks during a discussion held by the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs of the House of Peoples’ Representatives.

During the discussion, committee leaders noted that the draft proclamation will establish a legal framework to protect both public and private critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. Committee Chair Dr. Dima Noggo stated that the draft will be reviewed in depth and recommendations will be prepared.

Similarly, Deputy Chair Dr. Fethi Mahdi explained that in an era of rapid technological change, cyberattacks are increasing, and the proclamation will play a significant role in ensuring national sovereignty.

On her part, the Director General of the Information Network Security Administration (INSA), Mrs. Tigist Hamid, highlighted the impact of cyberattacks on the economy and daily life. She stated that the draft proclamation will help address these risks and strengthen digital sovereignty.

She further noted that the proclamation will require technology developers to obtain security clearance and will establish stronger legal protections for critical infrastructure, thereby reinforcing the country’s digital security system.
