Information Network Security
Administration (INSA) has officially launched the National Country
Sign Certificate Authority (National CSCA), a root
certificate authority service that provides digital certificates for the
security of the Fayda digital ID.
A few months ago, the institution launched the
root certificate authority service that issues digital certificates for the
security of electronic passports. Today, in a similar manner, it has begun
issuing digital certificates for the security of the Fayda digital ID.
During the ceremony, Director-General W/ro Tigist Hamid
stated that by successfully implementing the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy,
Ethiopia has now begun the Digital Ethiopia
2030 Strategy.
She explained that this creates opportunities for public services, financial
inclusion, and economic activities to be delivered through trusted digital
systems.
She further noted that one of the key
systems required to realize this vision is a secure digital
identity.
W/ro Tigist Hamid highlighted that the official launch of
the root certificate authority service, which produces digital certificates
ensuring the reliability, security, and protection of the Fayda digital ID
system, is a significant step forward.
She added that this marks an important chapter
in strengthening the trustworthiness of Ethiopia’s digital ecosystem and in
building a reliable foundation for digital services that support citizens’
daily lives.
At the event, Ato Yodahe Araya-Selassie, Director of the National ID
Program, stated that the launch of the digital certificate service for Fayda ID
security strengthens Ethiopia’s commitment to providing every citizen with a secure, trusted,
and universally accepted digital identity.
He also indicated that this service ensures
each digital ID issued under the Fayda program is accurate, verifiable, and
legally recognized.
