Under the theme “Cybersecurity – The Foundation of Digital Ethiopia”,
the 6th National Cybersecurity Month organized by the Information Network
Security Administration (INSA) has officially begun at INSA’s headquarters. The
opening ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the
House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation, leaders of
private institutions, and other invited guests.
The Director General of INSA, Mrs. Tigist Hamid, in her welcoming
speech, stated that Cybersecurity Month is being celebrated for the 22nd time
globally and for the 6th time in Ethiopia. She also emphasized that the main
aim of marking Cybersecurity Month is to enhance cybersecurity awareness among
citizens and institutions and to carry out various awareness-raising and
engagement programs.
The Guest of Honor of the day, AlemTsehay Paulos, Minister of
Cabinet Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister, officially launched the
6th National Cybersecurity Month. In her opening remarks, she noted that in
this era, where the world has entered into digital transformation, there is no
topic more timely and deserving of focused attention than “Cybersecurity.”
She further stressed that as we celebrate the 6th Cybersecurity Awareness
Month organized by INSA under the theme “Cybersecurity – The Foundation of
Digital Ethiopia,” it is important for all of us—government officials,
private sector actors, civil society, and stakeholders—to recognize that
securing our digital journey is not optional but a shared responsibility that
requires strong commitment.
